Courses:
The three year BA Acting Programme at RCS is one of the best professional actor training programmes in the UK. They accept 24 students with outstanding potential and commitment who are dedicated to a performing career from over 1,800 applicants each year. Graduates of the programme have progressed to work extensively in the industry and alumni includes household names such as Amy Conachan, Laura Donnelly, Sam Heughan, Katie Leung, Richard Madden and James McAvoy.
The BA Filmmaking is a scripted, drama-based, practical filmmaking programme aimed at those who are passionate about storytelling in cinema and television. It is a rich and challenging environment for students who are keen to develop their storytelling skills and have the passion to produce and develop exciting drama content. The programme has Screenwriting at the heart if it whilst you develop your skills across camera, lighting, sound, production, directing and editing.
BA Production Technology and Management
Production consists of both the BA Production Technology and Management and the BA Production Arts and Design programmes. Production students will work very closely with each other in the classroom and on RCS productions.
The Guitar and Harp Department at RCS is structured to directly reflect musical realities in the 21st century. Most successful musicians live varied musical lives; it is their desire to prepare you for the profession and they feel you must acquire as broad a range of skills as possible in order to become excellent musicians and interesting, expressive artists.
The Timpani and Percussion department offers an extensive curriculum to allow students to experience and study as much related material as possible.
The BA Musical Theatre programme is for exceptionally talented students who are dedicated to developing their skills in acting, singing, dance and music. They are looking for the next cohort of students who want to train with them alongside industry professionals, and who aspire towards a career in the competitive musical theatre industry.
This programme is designed to help you develop secure classical and contemporary dance technique, and prepare you for the profession as a confident, versatile and technically strong dancer. You will graduate with the skills required by professional companies as well as the ability to communicate effectively with other artists, choreographers and audiences.
BA (Hons) Contemporary Performance Practice
The BA (Hons) Contemporary Performance Practice programme is an interdisciplinary performance-making degree focused on the generation of new and original performances that sit outside of traditional theatre.
BA Performance in British Sign Language and English
The BA Performance in British Sign Language and English is an undergraduate degree that teaches students to be both actors and makers of work.
The Composition pathway is designed to develop artistically aware, imaginative and confident creators, who are equipped to succeed as musicians in a rapidly-changing cultural landscape.
The RCS Brass department is an encouraging, vibrant place where players are challenged to become the best performers they can be. They have a worldwide reputation for training leading musicians and our teaching team includes many of Britain’s finest brass players.
The Production Arts and Design programme has been designed to create a high-level conservatoire learning environment for aspiring scenic artists, prop makers, stage carpenters, costume makers, and set and costume designers. You will learn in an environment where your technical knowledge is as important as your creativity and individuality.
Studying Jazz at the Royal Conservatoire offers a high level of training aimed at cultivating your development as a creative and versatile jazz performer. The BMus programme explores jazz in the broadest possible terms, and provide the opportunity to play, perform, compose and record in many different jazz styles and settings.
The Bachelor of Music (BMus) undergraduate degree programme is their highly specialised music degree for performers and composers. They value hard-working, talented and curious students, and, in exchange, we provide an inspiring and supportive environment in which to excel.
Bachelor of Education (Music) with Honours
Bachelor of Education (Music) with Honours is a vocational programme for musicians who aspire to teach music in schools; it is one of the most highly regarded routes into classroom music teaching in Scotland, qualifying you for both primary and secondary school teaching. The degree provides integrated school placements in all four years of study.
