London Contemporary Dance School is a world-class conservatoire, offering vocational training to the highest technical and artistic standards in its undergraduate, taught postgraduate and research programmes, and at a pre-vocational level through our Centre for Advanced Training. The School supports the training of approximately 190 students each year, drawn from all over the world, while the Centre for Advanced Training works with young people drawn from the south of England aged 11-18. The School is a founding affiliate of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama, through which its programmes are funded by HEFCE, and its degrees are validated by University of the Arts London.  A pioneer of the concept of Centres for Advanced Training, The Place now benefits from the emerging network of CATs throughout England.

 Undergraduate:

BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance 

Their BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance develops versatile artists with all the tools and skills for a prolific career in dance and the creative industries.

The course is fun and highly intensive, with studio-based classes, enhanced by a range of contextual studies that directly relate to the experience of performing, making, researching and understanding dance. Plus, you will have access to unique performance and creative opportunities throughout the course.

Postgraduate:

MA Expanded Dance Practice

This new course is expansive in how it interrogates the conventions of cultural, aesthetic or historical assumptions about contemporary dance. You will explore how dance practices are experienced and how they can be situated within wide social, political and artistic contexts. As a practice-led, and student centred course, you will develop professional skills and your portfolio of work, whilst we offer the space and support for you to re-frame and challenge your practice.

MA Screendance

This trailblazing MA course examines movement on screen and investigates the possibilities of combining moving image and expanded choreography.

As a practice-led course, it embraces the hybrid nature of dance filmmaking and subjects it to critical investigation.
