Hertfordshire & Ludlow College (HLNSC) comprises of 5 thriving campuses; Hereford, Holme Lacy, Ludlow, Walford and Oswestry, as well as County Training
The superb Hereford Campus is one of the best further education campuses in the UK, offering outstanding learning facilities; including specialist workshops, training salons, professional kitchens and a extensive Learning Resource Centre. Holme Lacy Campus, only six miles out of Hereford, offers an attractive range of specialist land-based courses and boasts a 257 hectare country estate, which includes an arable, beef and sheep farm; woodlands; orchards and lakes. It is also home to an Animal Care Unit, Equestrian Centre and a Rural Crafts Centre; where the likes of blacksmithing, farriery and welding courses take place.
Ludlow College provides an excellent choice of A Levels for school leavers. Students enjoy being part of an academically rigorous and friendly Sixth Form College where they learn in small groups and benefit from high levels of personal support. Ludlow College offers excellent modern learning facilities provided in superb buildings, which date from the middle ages to the 21st century.
North Shropshire College consists of campuses at Oswestry and Walford; the Oswestry Campus in North Shropshire offers an exciting, modern campus on a shared site with the superb, purpose-built Oswestry Leisure Centre. The Oswestry Campus has top of the range facilities including a restaurant for both professional teaching and commercial use, and a dedicated Hair & Beauty Salon. The Learning Resource Centre has recently been updated with state-of-the-art ICT facilities and has a friendly student focus. The Walford Campus offers some of the best land-based facilities in the region and the extensive grounds include mature woodlands, new tree plantations, fishing pools and a rough game shoot. It is home to an Animal Care Centre with specialist facilities to cater for 100 different species of animals, as well as an Equestrian Centre, Engineering Centre, a working farm and sports facilities.

Interested in pursuing a career as a farrier? You will develop forging, horse care and other skills needed to prepare you for entry into the specialist and competitive Level 3 Apprenticeship in Farriery.
Forestry is the science and practice of managing forests and woodlands and covers everything from planting and managing large coniferous forests to creating and tending small broadleaved and community woodlands, raising young trees in nurseries and felling and delivering timber to wood using industries. Forestry has various objectives, from timber production, amenity, recreation, conservation and shelter for animals and crops. Forestry and Arboriculture have a lot in common, but arboriculture also has its own requirements in relation to the urban environment where the maintenance and protection of individual trees is of high importance, but timber production is not normally a main objective.
Furniture Studies: Design & Making
The furniture industry has developed from traditional crafts to a highly specialised and technical environment. Allied to carpentry and joinery, the furniture industry produces the furniture we see all around us and use in our everyday lives. Opportunities in furniture making are broad and varied and may range from jobs as highly skilled antique restorers to shop fitters.
HLNSC currently offers NVQ Certificate/ Diploma from Level 1 to 3. These courses give the skills necessary to establish a career in a wide variety of settings, including: salons, cruise ships and freelance opportunities. All of our courses combine theory with practical-based learning.

Students will be equipped with the knowledge and practical ability to work in technology related jobs in the music industry, as well as being prepared for the freelance world of opportunities. Courses will be of interest to both school leavers and mature students who are interested in audio engineering and music production, and for those who would like to prepare for a higher education qualification in this exciting field.
The creative industry is one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK economy. Our courses take an in-depth look at audio Industry-related vocations. Careers range from Producer, Studio and Live Engineering and sound design to record label roles, publishing, A&R.
Work might involve Live Sound such as festivals or tours, Studio Recording, the production and creation of music/audio for a wide range of applications including: broadcast, multimedia, film, animation and computer games. In most of these jobs you will be working with, and helping, other people in their sporting or leisure activities.
The travel and tourism industry is an exciting and popular sector. HLC has specialist tutors who have strong links within the industry, which enables learners to gain the experience and knowledge they need.
Fees:
For students who enrol on their further education full-time course before their 19th birthday there are no tuition or examination fees. Some courses may charge fees to cover materials, equipment, specialist clothing, etc. If you are aged 19 or over at the start of your course then tuition fees will vary.
HLC welcomes learners from overseas and are sure that you will find their college an ideal place to study. HLC have attracted learners from all over the world, including Australia, China, USA and many European countries.
