Courses:

Animal Care & Management

Do you want a career that is varied, enriching and rewarding? Bath's Animal Care programmes introduces you to a range of topics from feeding and handling to animal welfare and behaviour. With courses available at Levels 1, 2 & 3 you will gain the practical skills and theoretical knowledge to enable you to progress onto employment, an apprenticeship or higher education. Animal care students get to work with our onsite animal collection, which houses a range of mammals, reptiles, birds, fish, amphibians and invertebrates, and also carryout a weekly work placement to give them the knowledge, skills and confidence to be successful in industry.

Beauty Therapy

Are you looking for a career working with people in a fast paced, exciting industry that is constantly evolving and developing new treatments within the beauty sector? We offer a variety of entry points depending on your qualifications so that you can develop your skills in make-up, nail care, salon treatments and massage, and progress into employment in the beauty sector.

Are you passionate about working with children and young people? This pathway provides you with an exciting opportunity to begin your career in the Childcare and education sectors and will enable those aspiring to work with children and young people in varied settings, to fulfil their potential. You will gain the skills and knowledge needed to support childrens learning and development across the full range of ages and develop an in depth understanding of learning, development and wellbeing, and develop your own practice as a result of work placement experience.

Computing & Digital Technology

Are you a technology enthusiast looking to develop your knowledge in emerging technologies, software applications and programming? Bath's Computing and Digital Technology team offers a range of levels and qualifications including BTEC and T-level. Digital students have the opportunity to work on and develop various software applications including Mobile Apps, Web Development and Animation, as well as gaining an understanding of how this applies to the business context.

Do you have a keen interest in media and communication? Then this is the course for you! You will explore, develop and test your creativity and gain a comprehensive introduction to the fast-moving world of creative media. You will study a range of practical and theoretical disciplines that lead to a specialism in either Moving Image or Digital Publishing in the second year of the course at Level 3. The digital media production course can lead to higher education in Media Production, Creative Enterprise, Print or Broadcast Journalism, Web Design, Photography, Animation, Graphic Design or careers in industries that involve elements of TV, radio, interactive media and publishing.

Electrical Installation

Are you keen to start a hands-on career training in a purpose-built environment? Our Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation is an industry-recognised qualification which will give you the required knowledge and craft skills in electrical installation. You will practice and be assessed on the installation of wiring systems, alongside the relevant theory. You do not need workplace experience, so this course is ideal for you if you want to move into the electrical industry.

Do you want a career that is challenging, exciting and with a great future? Bath's Engineering pathways will give you the opportunity to develop your competency skills in Engineering in a practical way, where you will learn to make items using engineering processes and carry out engineering activities efficiently and effectively. You will cover a broad range of engineering and academic topics with practical tasks, which will enable you to apply the theory to solve real engineering problems.

Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair

Bath's Vehicle Maintenance & Repair pathway covers many aspects of light vehicle maintenance and repair as well as routine maintenance, routine vehicle inspection and removal and replacement of vehicle components.

Music Performance

Our Music Performance pathway will develop your skills and knowledge of the Creative Sector focusing on Music. You will develop your skills and knowledge of Music Performance, alongside your confidence, skills as a singer in a small group and ensemble skills in which to enhance your ability to collaborate and communicate.

Are you passionate about health and fitness and feel you could inspire others? The role of a Personal Trainer is to coach clients (on a one to one and small group basis) towards their health and fitness goals. Through the design and provision of creative and personalised exercise programmes and instruction, nutritional advice and overall lifestyle management, Personal Trainers motivate clients to positively change their behaviour and improve their overall wellbeing by providing specialist, tailored advice within their scope of practice, while always being aware of when to refer clients to relevant appropriate professionals for specialist information and guidance (e.g. physiotherapist, registered dietician, medical specialist). A comprehensive understanding of business, finance, sales and marketing is also essential to enable the Personal Trainer to build and retain a stable client base. Personal Trainers are typically employed by a fitness or leisure centre or, once qualified, can be self-employed and should expect to work hours that may include evenings, weekends and public holidays. This occupation exists within a sector that plays an important role in improving the health of the nation, creating opportunities that get more people, more active, more often.

This Photography level 3 course provides a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of photographic process and other design related disciplines. The programme has an emphasis on creative thinking, developing skills and ideas, and preparing you for progression into higher education or the design industry. Modules include digital, darkroom and studio photography, graphic design, moving image, printmaking and art history. Methods of study include studio and workshop activities, tutorials and portfolio reviews. Optional study visits are arranged throughout the course. Assessment is through coursework using sketchbooks and digital platforms.

Site carpentry

This pathway will provide you with the opportunity to work in our state-of-the-art Construction Skills Centre at our Somer Valley Campus.These courses have been designed to develop your skills and knowledge to enable you to work in your chosen field within the carpentry industry. You will learn how to erect complex structural carcassing components, how to maintain non-structural and structural components, and how to set up and use fixed and transportable machinery.

Stonemasonry

This course is for anyone who wants to work in stonemasonry, conservation, restoration or construction. It will provide you with hands-on experience, broad knowledge and skills training, and enable you to progress and become qualified within the stonemasonry industry. You will be learning to prepare for setting out and producing architectural stone work, and study a number of units including health, safety and welfare in construction and associated businesses, understanding technical information, quantities and communication with others.
