Apprenticeships

Business Administrator Level 3 

This apprenticeship is designed to enable you to develop a highly-transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours to help you progress at work.

Importantly, it will give you a firm grounding in business-related operations and functional processes, as well as the wider working environment.

As an apprentice you will develop key skills and behaviours to support your progression towards management responsibilities.

You will typically be working in the public sector, private sector or charitable sector as an administration assistant, personal assistant, business administrator, office assistant or office supervisor.

Chef De Partie Level 3 

If you work in a hotel, restaurant, bar, cruise ship or private household, or if you have been offered such employment, then this could be the learning opportunity for you.

A chef de partie is responsible for running a specific section of the kitchen. Also known as a station or section chef, the chef de partie reports to the senior chef and has a very important role in any kitchen.

This type of chef usually manages a small team of workers, which they must keep organised so dishes go out on time and the work area remains clean and orderly. In smaller kitchens a chef de partie may work independently as the only person in his or her section.

Commis Chef Level 2

You can become a knowledgeable, skilled and experienced commis chef by engaging with this apprenticeship opportunity.

It is designed for people working within a hotel, restaurant, bar, cruise ship or private household, or people who have been offered such a role.

A commis chef prepares food and carries out basic cooking tasks under the supervision of a more senior chef.

The primary role of the commis chef is to learn and understand how to carry out the basic functions in every section of the kitchen.

As a result, you can experience, consider and value each section with a view to choosing an area for progression in which you feel most inspired.

Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 

You can launch or develop your career in customer service with this nationally-recognised apprenticeship qualification.

This opportunity is suitable for you if you who have been offered employment or are already working in a wide range of workplaces such as call centres, receptions and showrooms.

It is all about providing products and services for businesses and other organisations through face-to-face, telephone and digital communications.

Electrotechnical Level 3 

This qualification is available at Level 3 only and aimed at learners wishing to commence a career within the Electrotechnical industry.

You will gain the skills and knowledge to carry out job roles and responsibilities associated with the installation of Electrotechnical systems.

On successful completion you will have achieved the industry desired level of competence required to carry out the specific roles.

Furniture Manufacturer (Modern Upholstery) Level 2 

A modern upholsterer is a skilled and methodical individual capable of creating ergonomic and comfortable furniture using both traditional and modern techniques, materials and fabrics.

This apprenticeship is suitable for you if you who have been offered employment or are already working within the furniture or marine upholstery industry.

Hospitality Manager Level 4

This apprenticeship is suitable for you if you are working in a bar, restaurant, café, conference centre, banqueting venue, hotel, cruise ship or private household. It is also suitable for you if you have been offered such a role.

Hospitality Supervisor Level 3

You can aim for progression in your hospitality role by engaging with this apprenticeship opportunity.

Hospitality supervisors work across a wide variety of businesses including bars, restaurants, cafés, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels and contract caterers.

They provide vital support to management teams and are capable of independently supervising hospitality services and running shifts.

They typically work under pressure, delivering fantastic customer service and motivating their team members.

Supervisors may specialise in specific functions or work across a variety of functions that reflect the multi-functional nature of the hospitality sector.

This apprenticeship is suitable for you if you are working in bars, restaurants, cafés, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels, cruise ships and private households. It is also suitable for you if you have been offered such a role.

Hospitality Team Member Level 2 

You can lay the foundations for career progression in hospitality by acquiring essential knowledge, skills and behaviours thanks to this apprenticeship opportunity.

A hospitality team member can work in a range of establishments such as bars, restaurants, cafés, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels or contract caterers.

The role is very varied and although hospitality team members tend to specialise in one area, they also have to be adaptable and ready to support team members across the business.

Specialist areas in hospitality include food and beverage service, food preparation, housekeeping, concierge and guest services, reception tasks and conference and banqueting duties.

Marine- Boatbuilding Level 3

You can launch the boatbuilding career you have always wanted thanks to this learning opportunity.

This apprenticeship is suitable for you if you have been offered employment or are already working within the marine sector.

You will learn to manufacture and assemble components as well as understand all organisational and statutory safety requirements.

You will also improve your problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills

By the end you will be multi-skilled and therefore capable of adapting to changing customer demands as boats become more complex and new materials and methods are introduced.

Marine- Engineering Level 3

You can launch the marine engineering career you have always wanted thanks to this learning opportunity.

This apprenticeship is suitable for you if you have been offered employment in, or are already working in, the marine sector.

You will learn to service, build, test and repair boats and ships, and will grow to understand all organisational and statutory safety requirements.

Operations/Departmental Manager Level 5

You can gain a broad understanding of the key management and leadership theory that underpins and supports growth and performance thanks to this apprenticeship opportunity.

You will also develop a range of essential management skills in strategic planning, strategic change and business process design, along with core leadership and management abilities like inspiring colleagues.

Typically you will already be employed as an operations manager, regional manager, divisional manager, department manager or other specialist manager.

Senior Chef Production Cooking Level 3

You can obtain the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to work as a senior production chef thanks to this apprenticeship.

Senior production chefs strive to produce customers’ meals to perfection according to predetermined specifications.

Production chefs are likely to work in organisations where brands, recipes and menus have been created by a central development team.

They work quickly and efficiently, producing food in high volumes, which is repeated day after day, requiring energy, organisational skills and attention to detail.

This opportunity is suitable for people who have been offered employment, or are already working within, hospitals, contract catering firms, military bases, and function sections of large hotels or care homes.

Team Leader/Supervisor Level 3

With this apprenticeship you can gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to successfully manage a team.

Over 18 months you will develop essential skills in project management and leading a team to reach a clearly defined outcome.

Through a combination of practical and theoretical learning you will develop the skills knowledge you need to work competently, safely and effectively for paying customers.

Childcare & Early Years

If you want to work in the Early Years sector, then one of their courses can give you everything you need to achieve your ambition.

These learning opportunities are designed to help you gain the qualification you need to break into the career you want and/or progress to Higher Education.

Construction & Marine 

You can gain the knowledge, skills and qualifications you need to launch your career or secure progression at work thanks to one of these specially designed courses.

Their Construction and Marine programmes give you the best possible training from industry-experienced tutors, enabling you to deliver on projects competently and safely.

Counselling

Their Counselling programmes give you the key skills and training you need to launch a successful career in counselling or advance your professional development in your current role.

You could be working or aiming to work in any one of several different sectors, including: healthcare, social care, education, blue-light services and human resources.

Importantly, courses are delivered by Counselling tutors who are currently also practitioners who must comply with current BACP guidelines on moral and ethical practice.

Health & Safety 

They offer a range of short training courses in Health and Safety that respond to all of today’s legislative requirements for safe working, helping your business to remain compliant.

You can select from Food Safety, First Aid, COSHH and Manual Handling, as well as tailored options to meet specific business or employee needs.

Hospitality

At Brock they are uniquely equipped to provide outstanding learning experiences in Hospitality, enabling learners to acquire the skills and knowledge required for industry success.

Their fine-dining restaurant MJ’s is an industry-standard environment in which you will receive expert training in the preparation and service of food and drink. You can also develop your customer care skills and a variety of business-related skills.

IT & Web Design 

You can acquire important IT and web-design knowhow by getting to grips with the latest hardware and software at their state-of-the-art computer suites.

At Brock they have created the optimum environment for learning transferable skills and knowledge in using computer technology.

English, Maths and Sciences

If you need GCSE qualifications in English, Maths and/or Sciences, then the staff at Brock college are here to help you reach your goals.

Studying English stimulates intelligence, creativity and imagination. Meanwhile, Maths and Sciences are important for understanding the world around us.

Teacher Training, Support & Assessing

Working in education is incredibly rewarding and there are a number of flexible training routes from which to choose.

If you want a career in teaching or training, or already teach but would like to develop your skills, the college offers a range of qualifications through a variety of delivery methods.

All courses are work-related and will help you to build on your existing experience and develop your personal and professional skills.

Transport

Their range of transport and travel-related programmes are designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills essential for safety and good practice in a variety of vehicles.

If you are looking to become a taxi driver, gain a private hire licence, or want to learn to assist wheelchair passengers, the college has a programme to fit your needs.

 

Higher Education

You can study either a BA (Hons) Early Childhood Level 6 Top-up course or an Early Years Level 4/5 Foundation Degree right here at Brockenhurst College. Both programmes are validated by the University of Chichester. Importantly, the college is an approved Higher Education provider and on the Office for Students Register.

Fees:

Fees vary by course, but there are Bursary and financial options that are available to some students seeking support.

Vulnerable Bursary:

Students aged 16-18 on 31/08/21 can apply for the Vulnerable Bursary of £1,200.00 if they are in one of the following defined groups:

• In care or a care leaver.
• Receiving DLA or PIP, in their own right, and ESA or Universal Credit, in their own right.
• Receiving Income Support or Universal Credit because they are supporting themselves financially.

Discretionary Bursary

The Discretionary Bursary will cover all essential course costs and contribute 50% towards the cost of a travel pass for students aged 16-18 on 31/08/21 who live with a family with a net annual income of less than £21,000 (we do not include any benefit income in this calculation).

Students aged 19 or over are only eligible for a Discretionary Bursary if they have an Education, Health Care Plan (EHCP) or wish to continue on a programme they began aged 16-18.

Free College Meals

Free college meals are available to students who meet the national free college meals criteria.

19+ Bursary

The 19+ Bursary can contribute towards childcare and travel to college. It is available to students aged 19+ on 31/08/21 with a personal net income of less than £30,000 per annum.
