University Level Courses

Apprenticeships

At BMet they offer over 30 different sector based apprenticeships from Level 2 to University Level, including apprenticeships where employers directly recruit candidates. If you’re 16 or over and you’ve already left school then you can apply now and start at various times throughout the year. If you’re leaving school in September then apply now and they will add you to their talent bank so that you’re ready as soon as a vacancy becomes available once you’ve finished your school education.

Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship

An Accounts or Finance Assistant is an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within a business. The Accounts or Finance Assistant is responsible for assisting the team of accountants with junior accounting duties. These can vary massively depending on the team structure and size of business. An Accounts or Finance Assistant’s work could include basic bookkeeping activities, working with sales and purchase ledgers, running calculations to ensure that records and payments are correct, recording of cash and data entry. Accounts or Finance Assistants can work in almost any sector.

Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship

An Assistant Accountant provides support to internal and external customers and will work predominately either as an assistant accountant within practice or alternatively within the finance function of an organisation. Part of their role will involve assisting in the day to day financial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements. In addition the Assistant Accountant may find themselves involved in regulatory financial requirements such as the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations.

Bricklayer Apprenticeship

The construction sector is the driving force behind the UK economy, employing three million people and contributing 6.4% of GDP. Not only that, the construction industry is central to delivering the homes, schools, hospitals, energy and transport infrastructure our society demands. A career in the construction industry is like no other. Bricklaying is a core function within the construction sector, particularly the house building sector. The Government has a target to build significantly more new homes over the coming years and therefore the demand for bricklayers has never been higher.

Business Administrator Apprenticeship 

Business administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. This includes small and large businesses alike; from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. Business administrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilities.

Carpentry Apprenticeship

This occupation involves carrying out skilled work, primarily using timber products, either on a construction site, or in a workshop, creating and installing building components.
A Site Carpenter will normally work on a building site, or in domestic and commercial premises, preparing and fixing building components, from the initial erection of a new building, through to the installation of all necessary fixtures and fittings, as well as a range of repair and maintenance activities.

Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship 

This apprenticeship could see you working in any area of the service sector where many job roles are available. Customer service representatives interact with customers to process orders, provide information about an organisation’s products and services, and resolve issues. So if you are friendly and good with people, always want to help and are patient then this could be the apprenticeship for you.
Apprentices who qualify in customer service could work in a variety of jobs in telecommunications, the utility industry or in the Private or public sector. Jobs such as Doctors Receptionist, Estate Agents Advisors, Call Centre Adviser, Customer Service Advisor in a private company, Good customer service is key to the success of all business and organisations are willing to invest in good staff in this area.

Dental Nurse (Integrated) Apprenticeship

The Dental Nurse (Integrated) role complements the role of other dental professionals. One of the primary roles is to provide chair side support to dental professionals and deliver a high level of patient care.
Dental Nurses may work in a variety of clinical environments and the Apprenticeship reflects all aspects of clinical responsibilities and duties of a dental nurse’s role and will provide the apprentice with the relevant qualification to apply to the General Dental Council (GDC) for professional registration as a dental nurse.
Dental Nurses are registered professional and work within the standards and scope of practice defined by the GDC Scope of Practice document (Sept 2013)

Early Years Educator Apprenticeship

As an Early Years Educator, you may gain employment as a nursery nurse or childminder playing a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. You may work in a range of settings including full day care, children’s centres, pre-schools, reception classes and as childminders, working under supervision of others to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements set by Government for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.

Engineering Apprenticeship

An apprenticeship within this sector could see you working in any number of businesses with the ability to specialise in a number of routes like electronic or manufacturing.. If you have initiative, the ability to grasp technical information and great problem solving skills an apprenticeship within this sector could be for you. With the UK facing a demand for skilled engineers you will be a highly sought after professional with unlimited career opportunities. Apprentices who qualify as electronic engineers will learn all about manufacturing electronic control systems and testing and maintaining electrical equipment. They will develop the practical skills and technical knowledge required to work as a professional and competent electrical and electronic engineer. Apprentices who choose the manufacturing route will gain practical experience by working with machine tools, centre lathes and milling machines and develop hand fitting skills by producing a number of practical components.

Horticulture or Landscape Operative Apprenticeship

Horticulture Operative can be employed to work in public parks and gardens, green spaces and historic gardens, private gardens and estates or in production nurseries and retail outlets, focusing on plant propagation and plant growth and identification. Many businesses will be specialised in their activities. Soft- landscaping includes the establishment and maintenance of plants and cultivated areas.
The employment area will dictate the option pursued.

HR Support Apprenticeship

HR Professionals in this role are typically either working in a medium to large organisation as part of the HR function delivering front line support to managers and employees, or are a HR Manager in a small organisation. Their work is likely to include handling day to day queries and providing HR advice; working on a range of HR processes, ranging from transactional to relatively complex, from recruitment through to retirement; using HR systems to keep records; providing relevant HR information to the business; working with the business on HR changes.

Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship

An Information Communications Technician (ICT) provides support to internal and/or external customers, by using tools or systems to problem solve and trouble-shoot routine and non-routine problems. This occupation supports clients/customers with their systems. They achieve this through monitoring and maintaining the systems and/or platforms to maximise productivity and user experience.

An ICT could be installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and/or software faults, solving technical and applications problems, either remotely or in person. Some examples of these issues are slow performance, connection problems, and an inability to access data.

Installation Electrician Apprenticeship

Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial, commercial and domestic environments. Electricians might work in both indoor and outdoor settings. Electrical equipment and systems may include switchboards, motors, cables, fuses, thermal relays, fault current protection switches, heating, lighting, air conditioning and metering equipment as well as crime and fire alarm systems and renewable energy technologies. They are able to work on their own proficiently and work without immediate supervision in the most efficient and economical manner.

Junior Content Producer Apprenticeship

You will be taught a range of practical skills used within the graphic design or media sector including Photoshop, Premier Pro, Audition, InDesign and Illustrator. You will be set practical tasks to develop your skills, as well as undertaking real-world briefs set by your employer.
In addition, you will learn about the skills that underpin practical work within the industry such as audience and client requirements, pitching ideas, responding to briefs, copyright and intellectual property and progression routes.

Paralegal Apprenticeship

This two year qualification has been developed with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives to give an understanding of the legal environment. It is designed to assist Law firms to recruit talented, young people and develop them into fee-earning roles, as well as to train and develop existing members of staff. This Apprenticeship is a partnership between the employer, employee and college. It is designed to give students an insight into the legal profession. It provides an excellent training mechanism to provide routes into higher education. It is a structured programme of learning which combines work-based learning with academic learning.

Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprenticeship

The Pharmacy Assistant (PA) works under the supervision of a Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, or other accountable healthcare professional. The PA provides a variety of pharmacy and medicines services to patients, the public and other professional healthcare teams. The PA supports the delivery of pharmacy services in a variety of pharmacy environments.
A PA will be involved in supporting the supply, preparation and assembly of medicines and products; issuing them to patients and other healthcare professionals and assisting in providing advice to patients to help them to make effective use of their medicines. They will be responsible for ordering and receiving medicines, as well as their storage, disposal and return. They will have an understanding of healthy lifestyle choices and relevant screening services. They will understand and work to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), a set of step-by-step instructions compiled by their organisation to help staff carry out routine operations. SOPs aim to achieve efficiency, quality output and uniformity of performance, while reducing miscommunication and failure to comply with pharmacy regulations.

Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Apprenticeship

Pharmacy Technicians are registered professionals working within the regulatory standards for pharmacy, as set by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Pharmacy Order 2010.
Pharmacy Technicians work in a wide range of settings, including (but not exclusively): registered pharmacies, community services, justice (the Prison Service), GP Practices, dispensing doctors’ practices, care homes and clinical commissioning groups, hospitals, mental health, defence (HM Armed Services) and within the pharmaceutical industry.

Professional Accounting Technician Apprenticeship

Individuals in the role of a Professional Accounting Technician will have responsibility for creating, and / or verifying and reviewing, accurate and timely financial information within the organisation in which they are employed or on behalf of another organisation. This will be performed in order to meet relevant ethical, professional and legal standards, and will utilise the individual’s knowledge of the business systems and processes, as well as standard accounting and tax practices. This role may exist in an accounting practice, a professional services company, HMRC or the accounting function of a business or other organisation.
Examples of roles as a Professional Accounting Technician include, but are not limited to, Assistant Auditor, Assistant Management Accountant, Assistant Financial Accountant, Accounts Payable and Expenses Supervisor, Commercial Analyst, Payroll Manager, Senior Bookkeeper, Senior Financial Officer, Tax Investigations Officer, Personal Tax Assistant and Business Tax Assistant.

Sports Coach Apprenticeship

The broad purpose of the Sport Coach occupation is to use extensive technical and tactical sports knowledge and skills to design and deliver coaching programmes that engage, motivate and evolve participants’ skills and performance.

Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship

Teaching Assistants work in Primary, Special and Secondary education across all age ranges encompassing special educational needs and emotional vulnerabilities. The primary role of the Teaching Assistant is to support the class teacher to enhance pupils’ learning either in groups or individually, ensuring pupils understand the work set, know their learning objectives and stay on task in order to make progress. Promoting self-belief, social inclusion and a high self-esteem play an integral part to pupils’ well-being; ensuring pupils thrive in a positive, nurturing, safe environment. It is an active role supporting the learner to access the curriculum. They are good role models, act with honesty and integrity, take part in team meetings; contribute to planning and class activities. Promoting Fundamental British Values through spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and positive behaviours are crucial in contributing to improved pupil progress and development.
