Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) offers a different way of learning. While some thrive on classroom-based learning, others prefer a more ‘active’ learning approach.

Our courses aren’t all exam-based – you will be continually assessed throughout your course. With formal assessments each term you will get an ongoing indicator of how you are progressing with plenty of time to make improvements.
Our teachers not only bring their industry knowledge to your lessons, but are also very creative in the tools and methods they use to help you understand your subject. For example, lecturers use digital tools such as Google Classroom, online quizzes, YouTube videos, surveys on your phones and much more to make your course as engaging as possible.

BCoT's selection of part time and intensive courses will offer you the flexibility in which you can train to become a qualified counsellor. The essence of counselling is the establishment of a therapeutic relationship in which the client experiences being heard and understood with sensitivity. An effective counsellor can create a safe space to communicate empathic understanding and an ability to listen effectively. BCoT's experienced and highly qualified staff will guide you through this process which will involve understanding the theoretical concepts of counselling alongside aspects of self-reflection and evaluation.
Computing and digital technologies play a vital part in the world we live in today, from business to entertainment. At BCoT we offer a range of employer-designed courses covering a range of technical skills, from hardware and IT technical support to cyber security and software development. As a CISCO and Microsoft IT Academy, students also have access to free Microsoft software and a software and hardware lab.
The care and teaching of children is a well-respected and sought after profession. Mike Taylor Barbering College will provide specialist training in male grooming.

With the enormous growth in the digital media industries, BCoT's courses will prepare you for careers in the many diverse areas or higher level study. You will have the opportunity to work in recording studio, music practise and photography rooms. BCoT's specialist games design is home to the latest technology in virtual and augmented reality as well as motion capture. BCoT's have an excellent track record of industry relations and a diverse range of work experience opportunities, including creating social media content for All in the Mind Festival, and interactive tools for Lasham Gliding Heritage Centre.
If you have a passion for serving the public either through the emergency services or armed forces, then these courses provide the perfect foundation for your future career. You will be introduced to the exciting and challenging world of the public services. You will have the opportunity to work with the Metropolitan Police, Royal Marines, RAF and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service. You will take part in a range of activities and visits to places such as RAF Odiham, Hampshire Police and international disaster response exercises.

You will get the chance to study in our modern laboratories using excellent equipment. Previous students have had work experience with paramedics, at hospital laboratories and an arson unit. There are also visits to outside laboratories and local fire stations to see forensics in practice.

UK Fees:
Aged 16 to 18
You won’t need to pay any tuition or registration fees. There may be costs for equipment for your course, if so you will be advised of this at enrolment.
Aged 19 and over
If you are between 19 and 23 and are studying for your first eligible Level 2 or 3 course then your fees may be waived. If you are studying for an eligible Level 3 or 4 course you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. Otherwise tuition and exam fees may be payable – concessions are available for those on means tested benefits.
If you are unable to pay any of the fees you may be eligible to receive financial assistance from the Government Bursary Fund.
You may also be eligible also claim financial assistance towards childcare, travel, trips, equipment and materials, fees and exam costs.
International:
As an international student, you will receive study support to help you enter a UK university. You can benefit from excellent courses, high teaching standards and the opportunity to meet new friends. BCoT has 70 years of academic success and provides an inspiring environment in which to learn.
